Distracted from Antarctica this evening by following links to various trenches, faults, and rifts that ended up w/me popping about 30 new tabs & reading about a number of New Zealand’s volcanoes.
But I got up early yesterday, & didn’t nap. I’m surprised I stayed awake this long.
Good night! 🌙

TIL about the submerged continent (?) of Zealandia. Like, what the hell? Did anyone else miss the boat (heh) on this? Or is this a known southern hemisphere thing that those of us in the northern hemisphere just aren’t taught?

Paragon’s Graphite isn’t magical, it’s just malware. It still needs a zero day exploit to compromise a phone with updated software. The best thing you can do to protect yourself against Graphite is keep your phone up to date and enable Lockdown Mode on iPhone or Advanced Protection Mode on Android.

An easy chair holds several packages of Friday Afternoon Tea and a handful of mysteries written by Beth Dolgner.
Two boxes arrived in the mail today, both of them from Seattle. One held seven packages of tea from @fridaytea.com and the other five books by @bethdolgner.bsky.social. Hmm, maybe the two could get together sometime?
Whatever, it's now time to brew a cuppa tea and pick up a good book!
Screenshot of a Twitter exchange in which user @kimerrikin notes that the city of Lynchburg VA declared April 7 2008 to be Leland Melvin Day, and Leland Melvin (@Astro_Flow) thanking them for reminding him.
Happy Leland Melvin day to all who celebrate. 💚

Don’t you hate it when you floss your teeth and are too rough (because you’re thinking about the state of the world) and the next thing you know you’ve got a mouthful of bloody spit?

Somewhere Naomi Klein sighs heavily, resets a “days since last incident” sign back to zero, writes “MOON” on a post it note and underlines it twice
We just learned about this incredible book. Every day it is a joy to be able to give our senior residents a happy, healthy life, but it’s also sad knowing what a rare opportunity it is for farmed animals to grow old. 💔 bsky.app/profile/isal...

genuinely think people outside of America don't realize how big this place is, how militarized and murderous our police are, how little our politicians care, how disconnected and impoverished we have been intentionally made to be, how we still have slavery just with extra steps. we really suck gang

Same NASA image of solar eclipse viewed from Artemis II with Saturn, Mars, Venus and other stars identified.
Some stars/planets identified
[alt text by NASA] The Moon, seen here backlit by the Sun during a solar eclipse on April 6, 2026, is photographed by one of the cameras on the Orion spacecraft’s solar array wings. Orion is visible in the foreground on the left. Earth is reflecting sunlight at the left edge of the Moon, which is slightly brighter than the rest of the disk. The bright spot visible just below the Moon’s bottom right edge is Saturn. Beyond that, the bright spot at the right edge of the image is Mars. Credit: NASA
Whoa 🤯
The Moon, in full eclipse, with the #Artemis II Orion spacecraft. Part of the Moon and spacecraft are lit by Earthshine, and both Saturn and Mars are visible to the lower right. Incredible. Details: images.nasa.gov/details/art0...

This was a very good episode.
A bobcat standing on a dirt road, looking to the side with alert ears, surrounded by golden grass and blurred vegetation in the background.
This bobcat paused mid-journey on the road, scanning her surroundings before moving on.

Pom pom crabs are dancing with cherry blossom petals instead of anemones. Petals are fluttering in the background. The atmosphere is full of spring vibes.
