White steps and chimneys are seen along a hillside. The houses are below ground.

The interior of a cave home shows bright red and blue furniture, a bed, and bright white cheerful walls with a staircase in the back.

Watching #PBS today, I saw a segment on "Focus on Europe" about houses in Guadix, southern Spain, that are actually caves. They maintain a temperature of 20°C. Between that and the produce cellar model, you all need to start thinking this way.
