The card game in #BeyondShadowgate was meant to be Black Jack, but we figured that not everyone knows how to play, so we settled on High-Low, a game that requires the least amount of instructions.
There was also meant to be a higher stakes game in the forest camp later on, but it was cut for pacing.
The icons for the #BeyondShadowgate Steam Acheivements were a blast to make. I made them #1-bit B&W as a tribute to the original Mac release of #Shadowgate

For #BeyondShadowgate, #Shadowgate co-creator, Dave Marsh, sent me and my team a copy of the original design notes he wrote in 1991.
The game was meant to be a more epic CRPG (With 600+ rooms), but we cut it down to a more maneagable #NES style game, and maintained the original's gameplay mechanics.

One of the more conspicuous references to #Shadowgate, in #BeyondShadowgate, is the map found in Castle Gwenynthell's Trade Office. It's the same map print as the one found in the study in Castle Shadowgate

There's something cozy about using a program with very limited tools. I even downloaded a much older version #MSPaint, cause the newer versions are too fancy. Yeah, I'm weird
