Grand Designs, Mute Swan style
Spending a lot of work time thinking about Bird Atlas 2027–31, like how to collect breeding evidence. So it was nice this morning to see Mute Swans nest building and a pair of Treecreepers engaged in courtship feeding (never seen this before), both logged in #BirdTrack

Abundance at Ashmore / Stubhampton north Dorset . Barn Owl - cavity in tree . Up to 6 Red kites , buzzards, kestrel, yellowhammer,redpoll, marsh tit , Treecreeper, nuthatch,stonechat plus more . Brown hare x2 .

Aiming for 2 complete lists each week = 100 per year. 100+ lists each year 2019 - 2025 so survey effort doesn’t explain the 2025 absence of Dipper.

Now adding graphics c/o BTO #BirdTrack - didn't make it out of Scotland again and best bird (YLG) does not make the headline! But best part of email: "Did you know that all county bird clubs are now using data from BirdTrack for their reports?" (only 75% last year, which I found quite dispiriting!)

Just reviewing my #BirdTrack 2025 report and it was good to learn that I saw 85 species at Lochwinnoch over the year, and my best day there was 4 May with 44 species.
I've got off to a very slow start this year but hope to pick things up soon. #BirdingScotland

I work a lot in Bedfordshire, been trying to get a bit of a county list going (110ish over the last 10 years).
According to #birdtrack I still need Snipe🤷🏻♂️
Walked round Broom gravel pits at lunch but no joy. 3 Pochard though .

Presumably the 4 (2ads) Russian Whitefronts from Spurn have relocated to Old Channel Marshes on the Outstrays now. Also 11 GWE, male and ringtail Hen Harriers and at least one Merlin in the area this morning. #BirdTrack #phonescoped @birdguides.bsky.social

A view across the Ouse Washes at Sutton
