A fresh queen Common Carder Bee drinking nectar from the deep pink blossom of a crab apple tree. She is a large ginger-brown bee, with paler hair on her face and along the sides of her thorax, and dark legs. Her tongue is extended as she dips towards the centre of the open flower, around which are several closed buds.
