MAPS beautification plan unveils Bessie Coleman Garden and Reno/Eastern corridor designs MAPS staff and designers presented the first MAPS Phase 2 implementation package, including a Bessie Coleman Garden near the airport (with a scaled plane wing feature subject to FAA fence approval), improvements at Reno & Eastern with sculptural elements, and bridge panels for First American Boulevard; budgets include a 10% contingency and are within MAPS 4 allocations.

Continental Divide Trail coalition seeks Rawlins support for downtown ‘destination district’ design The Continental Divide Trail Community Committee and partners asked Rawlins City Council to back a multi-destination district plan that would concentrate trailway amenities, signage and marketing in a four-block area downtown. The committee requested the council’s endorsement (not funding tonight) and described a roughly $50,000 design contract, water caches, signage and a proposed July 'Halfway Days' event.

Rawlins is on the brink of transforming into a vibrant hub for hikers and tourists with a proposed multi-destination district that could boost the local economy and heritage.

Commission hears update on downtown revitalization team, RV-park design submissions and hotel status Commissioners were briefed on the Wells Commerce/GGLO downtown revitalization contract and outreach plans, five or six submissions for RV campground design, and continuing uncertainty about a major downtown hotel project; public-works and parks bond and downtown maintenance timing noted.
