Wide Sargasso Sea is a #DNF for me sadly.
I had a hard time following along with the dialogue and did not enjoy how the style of writing used would leave out chunks of time from one Part to the next which included major events. I think I would really enjoy it as an #audiobook though.

In fiction novels a writer runs the same risk of writing with too much of an edge. Positioning a trigger warning at the start of a novel is not enough to preserve the hook. Simply put, how a reader 'feels' while reading is a critical factor in DNF.

i will say. one of the reasons HP never hit for me was bc there were sooo many “wrote a better harry potter before harry potter” instances already. the first book is actually one of like five books ever on my #dnf. i will plow through almost anything.
Goodreads is introducing a "Did not finish" shelf for all of the books that you did not complete for whatever reason.
I think that it would be more personally insulting to see (hypothetically) a book I wrote on my Mom's Goodreads DNF shelf than a 1 star review
