1902 First meeting of the Wednesday Psychological Society in Freud's practice on the raised ground floor. Freud is conferred the title of "associate professor" by the University of Vienna, on which he comments in a letter: "Congratulations are already raining down on me... as if suddenly the role of sexuality had officially been recognized by His Majesty, the significance of dreams confirmed by the cabinet, and the necessity of psychoanalytic therapy for hysteria passed through parliament with a two-thirds majority."
#Freud was not only a genius, he was also kind and had a great sense of humour. He was a good father and brother. Re-reading what the Nazis (and those that sided with them) did to him and over 200.000 Jews in Vienna is unforgivable and yet part of humanity that he helped us decipher. #psychoanalysis

Visited #Freud today in his former home in #Vienna. Very instructive, moving and also sad. All of his belongings had either been left by him or were forgotten (such as his new glasses) when he had to flee the Nazis - or they were brought back from his exile in London after his death. #psychoanalysis
