Two windmills covered during #IceStorm in #Wisconsin. #Icicles in line with blades, which were rotating in wind & rainwater was flung out from center while freezing. Icicles longer below where water was not flung off as much, just dripping.

White pine needles spread fanwise, each separate needle covered in a sheath of silver ice. Sunlight shining behind the pine gives a pale cream luster to the round-bottomed, needle-filled icicles. In the foreground, ice seems to drip improbably off the edges of a mountain laurel leaf.

Ice encases a spray of mountain laurel in this post-winter storm photo. The broadly oval, smooth, green mountain laurel leaves radiate from central stems, each set resembling an open flower. Each leaf wears a thin coat of ice that ends in a narrow, crystal-clear icicle. Each icicle hangs off its leaf at nearly a 45 degree angle, a dramatic indicator of the wind that romped through the night with the icy rain. Glints of sky, snow, and distant branches appear in the thin, curling icicles.
