A ★★★★★ review of The Matrix Reloaded (2003) You ever think about how everyone who hates this movie is wrong

Ha! New #letterboxd friend @maevemaevemaeve.bsky.social ‘s review of #TheMatrixReloaded cracked me up 😆

boxd.it/2ds0wl

You can see it full in the preview panel, but you should still go give it a Like on @letterboxd.social 🤓

(I don’t hate it, but it did disappoint me in ‘03)

A ★★★★ review of Scary Movie 2 (2001) Comedy was much better and felt more natural jokes. The parody part wasn't as specific like the first but still hit some good parts.

Scary Movie 2 humor is much better. Still low brow humor but was wittier and didn't shove it in your face. Still worried about scary movie 6. #scarymovie #review #letterboxd

A ★★★★★ review of Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991) Everything is cranked to 11 as the stakes are raised and the action is bigger and more expensive. We get away from the horror scifi tone of the first movie and try and make a blockbuster action movie. Everything works and the script is smart. This is probably the better film but I still prefer the first one for its smaller scope and more dark vibe. The Blu-ray is overprocessed and upscaled. Massive noise reduction makes everything waxy and smooth. I would love a re-release with all that gritty film grain intact.

I rewatched Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991) and gave it ★★★★★

I had to stay home sick today, so I watched something to cheer me up! #Annie is my favorite Broadway musical so I've been slowly trying to watch every film related to its history, including the poem and comic strip.

A ★★★ review of Kingdom of Heaven (2005) Such a strange experience watching this film. I feel like I didn’t understand a single thing that happened, nor could I tell you who any of the characters were or how they related to each other. Maybe the directors cut is just incoherent? Did the theatrical cut make this movie make a shred of sense? Orlando Bloom really went on a wild run of high budget action films in the early 2000’s, wtf.

A ★★★★★ review of The Terminator (1984) A rare perfect movie. The effects generally hold up ok but they are the only thing that has aged in this film. The writing is perfect with tons of world building in this movie about a time paradox. This is my favorite of the franchise as its dirty and gritty unlike later entries that are cleaner and more polished. This movie also feels a more horror than what the action series becomes. The music is also far more electronic. I love this movie The 4K Blu-ray is crispy with tons of grain. Just the way I like it. It is

A ★★★★ review of Stardust (2007) Great from beginning to end with an all star cast that includes so many random and wonderful actors who are all having a great time as they play such interesting characters. The 4K Blu-ray is pretty soft but it sounded great. The plot is fairly predictable but it was far from boring. There was a few twists I didn't spot from the start. I will be eagerly watching this again

The first piece of this movie bangs. The quick editing with the memories is very propulsive.! maybe could have withstood that the whole film?
Unfortunately, nothing feels real after the reveal. I just don't think people would react with that little empathy and that much self-destruction.
And perhaps this is a skill issue, but what was this movie trying to say? Especially given the heavy topic at hand? The script felt clumsy and incomplete.
All of that being said, it is extremely enjoyable watching Zendaya & Robert Pattinson and ! laughed out loud multiple times. Zendaya needs more roles where she can go off - like she needs to be in Julia Roberts/JLo type star-vehicles

Horror365Challenge 102/365: The Haunting (1963)
Pareidolia: "the human tendency to perceive familiar patterns, most commonly faces, in random or ambiguous visual stimuli, such as clouds, rock formations, or everyday objects."

Holy smokes, a young Russ Tamblyn (Dr. Jacoby from Twin Peaks)!

This haunted house story is probably responsible for inspiring Hell House, The Shining, House of Leaves, and a few others. It plays very well with the ideas of pareidolia, superstition, paranormal activity, and psychosis, forcing the audience to decide what they think really happened. Did Eleanore go crazy and lose her mind, or was the house really haunted and some spirit really drove her into that tree? Each of the other final four survivors offers the viewer their own interpretation of the events, while the shadow in the tower of the final shot seems to offer its own idea. I know some folk’s knee-jerk reaction is to call this boring or a nothing-burger, but they would be forgetting their history of when this movie came out and what movies were capable of then. If you want the more active, more overt, paranormal ghost story, watch the 1999 The Haunting instead. I still gotta say this is a great movie, that really climbs in your head with you and messes around with what you're thinking the whole time.
