Tufted Tortrix Acleris cristana - a smart micro-moth
Lunar Marbled Brown - Drymonia ruficornis (referring to its reddish antennas)
Swallow Prominent - Pheosia tremula
Streamer - Anticlea derivata. The wavy dark line near the tip of each wing gives the moth its common name.
Moth numbers are on the up, with a few new arrivals for the year today (Dorset, UK). Highlights were a smart Tufted Tortrix (new for me), Lunar Marbled Brown, a chunky Swallow Prominent and the delicately patterned Streamer. #teammoth #moths

Shoulder Stripe (Earophila badiata).
Yesterday, I discovered and caught a Shoulder Stripe in my greenhouse. I never enjoy photographing these #moths, but in the end, this one worked out. It attempted to flee twice before I caught it twice more. After that, it appeared to give up and accept that the situation was inevitable. #teammoth
Ruby Tiger, one of several at Wicken Fen this afternoon, also got first Swallow and Willow warbler of the year there this afternoon.

I'm not having much luck with #moths right now, so here's a Pale Brindled Beauty from a few months ago. But earlier, I did discover a Shoulder Stripe in my greenhouse. How long it has been stuck in there is beyond me. It makes up for the other one I lost the previous week. #teammoth

The legs are mottled brown and tan, the head and thorax mostly tan. The moth has black eyes and large brown, feathery antennae emerge from just above the eyes.
