Pencil drawing of a pangolin and mantis shrimp hybrid. It is mainly inspired by the pangolin, but has the addition of club-like appendages of the mantis shrimp. Also like the mantis shrimp, it has compound stalks, antenna, and antanea scale. It faces the right with its scaled tail curled into a near crescent shaped silhouette.
Coloring has been digitally painted and is inspired mainly by photographs of a Hemisquilla ensigera californiensis mantis shrimp. The palette is mainly a warm purple with the scales edged in light blue. The club appendage and antennae also pop with pale blue.
The drawing is on top of a pale orange halftone patterned circle that was digitally added to the drawing.
Close up of the torso of the creature, the coloring slightly richer than in the full view image. The curl of the tail is also visible below the creature.
