i do. right now the biggest problem Labour could face is saying "we're going to rejoin the EU".
it would paralyse government.
what Labour is doing is the most pragmatic thing it can do whilst trying to unpick the #reformatory disaster on #brexit
i always assumed Labour's position was "we are not campaigning to rejoin the EU" because any mention of #brexit would have completely triggered #reformatory and the election would have been about #brexitv2 whereas Labour fought the election on how crap the Tories were and Labour the right choice.
a lot of the pain could be reduced by simply "waving through" EU produce coming into the UK. the problem with that is:
the screams of betrayal from #reformatory
and the EU will never reciprocate, as it'd cause havoc with other countries like the US, who'd demand the same.

i agree. my suspicion is that they've calculated that any announcement like that will simply be met by howls of "betrayal" and all the usual things that #reformatory and their supporters come up with... and that this is possibly the least worst policy.

my view remains the same. #UKLabour is held to a much higher standard than the #Tories (or #reformatory in this case) and are judged more harshly for far less damaging policies.

agreed. and i do think it is simply because it'd destroy their whole legislative agenda. in that, the same red lines exist for #reformatory and particularly the media (can you imagine!!!). we're caught in a deadlock where even asking the question raises howls of "BETRAYAL!!!".
