Was anyone actually afraid of #ReturntoOz as a kid? I know lots of people who were scared by the Wizard or the Winged Monkeys in #theWizardofOz but all the people who tells us how scary Return to Oz was seem to do it have only decided it was as adults.

Why is Marvelous? The Marvelous Land of Oz, though meant for a young audience, can still be mined for resonant themes, including the discovery of identity, the inevitability of change, the power of youth, and the importance of truth. As such, though the book may be somewhat dated, it can still be transformed into something with resonance for our current era. The story also holds pivotal implications for the wider Oz universe through its introduction of a character who plays an integral role in shaping Oz’s future, not just the events of this story. Suffice it to say that if you’ve seen any part of this project, you’ve seen her. Besides themes and implications, MARVELOUS also contains characters who are just as charming as the Scarecrow and Tin Woodsman (and they come back, too!). Tip, Jack Pumpkinhead, and their friends are colorful and full of life, and their inclusion alone is enough reason to infuse this tale with new vitality.
