On a visit to Iran a few years ago,
I headed for this Teheran street
near Ferdowsi Avenue one morning.
All the shops were closed.
Oh.
No more Jewish antique dealers here then?
Duh!
Slapping my forehead,
I remembered
it was....Saturday.
#Shabbat.
All were open the next day.

Time for #Passover when we not only replace puffed up bread with flat matzo but we’re supposed to remove the excess air and ego from everything, including the bloviating on social media. I’ll be offline for Yom Tov and #Shabbat until late Saturday night or maybe Sunday morning, de-bloviating.
When I light #shabbat candles later, I will have in mind those fighting with their bodies, those afraid to take the next step because of lackluster support and any whose hearts are so hardened by hate that they miss opportunities to connect w others. #shabbatshalom!
So, about 30 minutes before #Shabbat and it appears that I forgot to buy anything for challah.

I have a #shabbat cooking marathon planned tonight. The goal is using up the flour before #pesach
- Fried chicken (my MiL’a request)
- chicken fried steak
- shepherd’s pie ( in honor of pi day)
- chicken soup with egg noodles
- peach pie (at my MiL’s request)
Being able to attend a @chabad.bsky.social this past #Shabbat was very uplifting, with the level of #antisemitism rising with the left and right.
When I light #shabbat candles shortly, I will be with students, and am grateful. I’ll be davening for those whose souls are tired, people who lack love, and those whose bodies aren’t working as they’d like or wish. #shabbatshalom!
