"The decoration on this unique dish depicts the perspective of a fish. Above the surface a pair of eyes peer into the depths. Is it perhaps a cat, keen to catch a fish, or a frog about to become fish food? Or a surprised small fish trying to flee an attack? Inspiration probably came from a Japanese woodcut, possibly by Hokusai, who made similar, realistic and wryly humorous, of nature."
