Opposes gas-expansion project

If Governor Healey wants to reduce rates and help Massachusetts reach its greenhouse gas reduction targets, she should strongly oppose Project Maple and other "natural gas" expansions.

A warning about Project Maple The Canadian fossil fuel corporation erroneously claims New England, New Jersey, and New York need more gas for homes and buildings and to generate electricity.

Enbridge is exploring what it calls Project Maple, a major expansion of its fracked gas pipeline that runs from New Jersey to Massachusetts. State leaders must reject Project Maple.

This is to inform you that natural gas venting occurred on 12/22/24 at approximately 11:22 PM. The gas was vented through a stack specifically designed to safely vent natural gas. In accordance with Section 3.B., Table 11, Condition 3 of the Plan Approval for the Weymouth Compressor Station, Algonquin is required to notify MassDEP within 2 hours of any gas venting at the Weymouth Compressor Station that exceed 10,000 standard cubic feet (scf) of natural gas. Algonquin will follow up with more information within 3 business days, including an estimate of the actual volume of gas vented. (NOTE: No resident has been informed of scf of methane and lbs of VOC released into environmental Justice neighborhoods.)
