India and Australia have signed a massive ₹23,500 crore deal for 15 seaplanes, marking a major leap in defence cooperation and aviation manufacturing. The agreement strengthens maritime surveillance, island connectivity, search & rescue, and rapid response capabilities for India’s long coastline and island territories.
A big part of the deal focuses on Make-in-India, with manufacturing, assembly, and maintenance planned inside India. This is expected to create thousands of skilled jobs, boost aerospace supply chains, and transfer advanced aviation technology to Indian firms.
Beyond defence, the seaplanes can support disaster relief, coastal patrol, tourism, and connectivity to remote islands—turning strategic cooperation into real-world impact for people and industry.
