For the balances, the app groups the balances by currency (because I think it makes more sense to more people that way).
If you tap on the currency balance, then it shows the breakdown per Taler exchange.

AFAICT, with Taler —
You don't just, for example, have (a coin for) CAD $5 in your Taler wallet.
But, instead you have (a coin for) CAD $5 AT A PARTICULAR TALER EXCHANGE in your Taler wallet.
Why does that distinction matter?
Because, AFAICT, merchants declare what exchanges they are willing […]
AFAICT, Taker doesn't seem to be designed for gifting people money.
Such as, someone giving money to their friend.
Or, a husband or wife giving money to their spouse.
Or, a parent giving money to their child.
Etc.

If I understood things accurately — Taler doesn't protect the privacy of the payer from everyone.
Although I should say, that — protecting the payers privacy from the payee is still valuable — even if that is the limit of what Taler provides.
