In response to reckless driving on local highways, #WestVanPolice worked with RCMP Air Services, proactively targeting high-risk driving behaviours on the Upper Levels #HWY1 and Sea to Sky #HWY99. With the help of helicopter Air 1, officers issued a total of 68 tickets.

Shortly after 8 am Saturday morning, #WestVanPolice patrolling HWY 1 pulled over an impaired driver speeding at 155km/h. He was fined, issued a 90 day driving prohibition, and immediately had his vehicle towed and impounded for 30 days at his expense.

#WestVanPolice were thrilled to join the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) to awaken Ch’ich’iyuy, the #WVPD Canoe, from rest. Ch’ich’iyuy is used for educational journeys to raise awareness, celebrate Coast Salish culture, and strengthen the relationship between First Nation Peoples and Police.
