#GLAMOS winter surveys are underway. On April 7, measurements on #Aletsch Glacier showed ~0.5–4.5 m of snow, close to the recent average. In contrast, #Pers Glacier had much less snow, with maximum depths of only 1–2 m.

Takt Termen (1020m) 0°C DP -0.8 °C NB -0.2°C . Vanmorgen overigens wakker geworden door de kunstmatie opgewekte lawine-explosies in het #Aletsch gebied. Lawinegevaar inmiddels opgehoogd naar code rood (4) en daarmee gevaar groot!
De pistes in de #Aletsch zijn prima. Dit is echter vnl te danken aan de kunstsneeuw en het koude weer. De beelden van vanmorgen laten ook de sneeuwarmoede zien met de groene en bruine hellingen bedekt met een dun laagje verse sneeuw en rijp buiten de pistes.
Het rustige zachte hogedruk weer houdt aan. Mogelijk dan dinsdag wat verse sneeuw voor de Z-Walliser Alpen. Act. beeld #Aletsch Arena / Bettmeralp Bergstation Wurzenbord op 2224 m. Zelfs de #Eggishorn op 2893 m meldt met -0.3°C maar nipt vorst.

Photo aériennes depuis un parapente. On voit au premier plan élévateur et le bout d'aile. Au fond le glacier d'Aletsch qui serpente entre les massifs montagneux. Le ciel est parfaitement bleu. On distingue également la limite des chutes de neige sur les sommets

Incredible ice loss measured again at #Konkordiaplatz on the #Aletsch #Glacier, home to the thickest ice in the #Alps (still about 800 m!). Yesterday’s survey revealed another –4.6 m of ice gone in just one year. :(

Afgezien van die ene #lenticularis boven de #Aletsch geen wolkje aan de lucht en met 29.8°C hier in #Temen (1020m) net niet tropisch. De komende dagen gaat dat echter dagelijks lukken #hittegolf

Today: during #hedgewatch in the #Alps near the #Aletsch #glacier we found these glacial #striations. The scratches are probably from the #LittleIceAge .The glacier was much thicker. They are cut in by #rocks at the bottom of the glacier.

Today is day 28 of #30DaysWild. The picture is from a #hedgewatch to the #Aletsch #glacier. The marking shows it's thickness at~1850/60 when a period called #LittleIceAge ended.
