The Shropshire Bedlams (men) and Martha Rhoden's Tuppenny Dish (women) are two Border Morris sides who always perform together. Marthas ware yellow and green dresses and waistcoats and dance with handkerchief. The Bedlams wear tatters (coats) top hats and dance with sticks.

They wear bell pads on their legs with short tatters, and black top hats decorated with different items including ribbons, flowers and feathers. Their faces are painted in designs in the same colours as their jackets.

Morris dancers parading through a town centre street lined with shops. Cotswold dancers in white shirts and colourful baldricks wave white hankies as they dance. Powderkegs walk behind.

Four Powderkegs dancers in the road, two throw their sticks to each other and the other two tap the bottom of their sticks on the floor. Three musicians stand to the right on the pavement. On the opposite side, a line of people stand watching.

Me and another member of Powderkegs. I am holding my stick up horizontally as she clashes her stick at the centre of mine. We are both laughing.

Four Powderkegs dancers. They wear jackets with long tatters, strips of fabric in red, orange, yellow and black, over black shirts and trousers. They wear bell pads on their legs with short tatters, and black top hats decorated with different items including ribbons, flowers and feathers. Their faces are painted in designs in the same colours as their jackets. They carry short sticks. They are leaping up in the air with arms wide, facing each other in pairs.

Powderkegs band, in a row in front of a road. They wear the same kit as the dancers.

Bollin Morris. Their kit is like Powderkegs', but in blues and greens. Eight dancers face each other in pairs, clashing long sticks.

Lenny, a sleepy springer spaniel stretched out amongst music bags and boxes. He wears a coat made of tatters to match Powderkegs.

Great afternoon out at the Northumberland Arms in Marple Bridge yesterday, with Powderkegs and Bollin Morris. Featuring levitation and a sleepy dog.

Clerical Error are on the right, wearing red, green, yellow and black. Clerical Error also have a large red dragon puppet that one of the dancers wears on their back, and a Welsh flag.

Powderkegs are off to Chester today to dance with Clerical Error and Stone the Crows. This time last year was only my second ever dance out, and this is the first time I'll be re-visiting an event, which feels good. And we get to dance during a partial eclipse! […]
