This Alisha from #Bosham #WestSussex #Fourinabed is a nasty cow!
A sketchpad watercolour done from Bosham as the sun went down one evening in 1970. Not sure exactly where I sat but I think the church across the water is St Nicholas at Itchenor (the spire is a little more squat than depicted here). I think G and I were with an old friend and we went for beers in a nearby pub (the Berkeley Arms? Probably a bit too posh for scruffy arty types now). I didn't have a car then so it was bus or train plus a walk.
One of my favourite old watercolours, bringing back memories of exploring the Hampshire coast by bus or train with sketch pad. This was done at beautiful Bosham in 1970 on cheap paper, catching the sun going down over Chichester harbour - see alt text

This coastal path spends much of each day under water, and the tide comes in fast, check tide-tables or get trapped. This path is always worth walking, when it’s there.

From the green slime and reed covered shoreline an old wooden jetty can be seen to the right. At the end of the jetty a yacht is moored in the mist-covered channel. In the distance the Chidham shoreline is just visible.

Memorial in Holy Trinity Church, Bosham to a daughter of King Cnut, said to have died in childhood and buried there. It’s a very long standing story, but there’s no evidence of her existence sadly. The memorial was placed there in 1906 #bosham #canute #cnut #holytrinitybosham #anglosaxon

For #SteepleSaturday, the marvellous church of the Holy Trinity, #Bosham. The bottom three storeys of the tower are #Saxon, the top Norman & the spire 15thC. Famously, this was King Harold II's local church and parts of it are depicted in the #BayeuxTapestry. #Sussex

A stroll around #Bosham on a sunny winter afternoon. I grew up visiting here a lot, and it is from this church I got my middle name ‘Edward’. Bosham church is depicted in the opening of the Bayeux Tapestry, and involved Edward the Confessor. Due to the village location, high flood tides are common.
