A Reddit response from r/Edmonton about the parking fees for the Old Strathcona Market. The response says the following: "I'm among the people the market lost. I used to commute in from a neighbouring community every Saturday. I'd park in the free lot, grab a coffee and treat at Pact, buy a book at the Wee Book Inn and then buy nearly all my groceries for the week at the market. Spent over $7k there in 2025. Once the city started with the stupid app paid parking thing, I paid to park underground at the Roots Building instead. Then they also switched to an app based parking system. Now I no longer visit Whyte, I go to Bountiful instead."
Just checking in on the Old Strathcona Market parking discourse and I'm just shaking my head 🙂↔️ This guy spent $7k at the market in 2025 but says paid parking means he'll never go again. If you spent that much there you can spend a couple extra bucks on parking ya cheapo.

I always chuckle seeing stories about "congestion" in Edmonton. Having come from Southern Ontario, I can assure you having a few extra minutes of delay is not congestion 😂 Construction or not, this city has no congestion in comparison. Talk about driver entitlement.
