Pieces of a white crucible are sitting on a round, reflective laboratory balance weighing pan. The crucible bottom has broken in half. The crucible lid rests top up in the upper right hand corner. One of the crucible bottom halves is in the lower right hand corner, while the other is on the center left hand side of the image. The bottom pieces have opened to reveal the final product of magnesium (Mg) oxidation, magnesium oxide (MgO). The MgO is gray, black, and white, and resembles cigarette ash.
