At the conclusion of the basketball game, all 4,785 fans attending had to exit, then re-enter in order to watch the fight. Over 8,000 people were in attendance to watch the nightcap, paying either $10 or $12.50 per ticket, doubled the cost of the most expensive ticket to attend a Blazers game. The fight, which famously featured Frazier beating Ali in 15 rounds, would soon be shown, in color, at four different theaters around Portland three days later.
For the game itself, #Braves guard #DonMay scored 31 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in leading #Buffalo to the road win. May, a reserve on the #1969/70 New York Knicks, had a career in 1970/71 with #Buffalo. May averaged 3.5 points in 2 seasons with the @nyknicks, but his averaged jumped to 20 points in 1971 for Buffalo. He scored 30 points or more 12 times in his career and all 12 were during his year with Buffalo. #GeoffPetrie scored 20 points to lead #Portland but took 21 FGA to get his total, including missing his first 8 FGA. As a team the Blazers were cold, shooting 38 of 110 FGA. The Braves had 18 fewer FGA, yet made 3 more than Portland. It was also announced that the fans could let the Blazers Front Office know whether to select "Heads" or "Tails" in the coming coin-flip to determine the 1st pick in the 1971 @NBA Draft. Portland has the worst record in the Western Conference at 23-52, 10 less wins that the @SeattleSonics.
