Villa San Marco is one of the most extensively excavated sites of Stabiae but is largely unknown by tourists. It was discovered first by the Bourban Dynasty 1750-1754 and again in the 1950s. It is well preserved by ash and pumice debris from the 79 AD explosion of Mount Vesuvius.
