The picture shown is a close-up of the Virgin Mary with a stain glass windows behind her in an outside shrine opposite a church here in my local village in Ireland.
The Virgin Mary herself fills the left of our frame from top to bottom. She is in a crossed arms pose wearing a robe and a head piece. Her head is slightly facing down and away from us with a haunting yet serene expression.
Behind that statue is a stone enclosure with two framed stained glass windows and they also fill the entire picture behind her. The window design is one of many interlocking flowers and petals all in muted pinks, blues, purples and whites.
The colours were muted that day as it was overcast when l took this shot, but rest of the picture has been purposely colour separated to show only monochrome leaving the stained glass windows the only colours showing.
The whole picture is finished off with a thin white border to frame it. Here’s a little information on this beautiful outside shrine:
A shrine to the Virgin Mary, or Marian shrine, is a shrine marking the apparition or other miracle ascribed to the blessed of Virgin Mary, or a site centred on historically strong Marian devotions.
