It's happening! I'm going from a Beka 4" loom (which will now be the dedicated tablet weaving loom) to an Ashford Sample-It 16". I did the finishing wax last night and today will be assembly and the first warping! So hype.

Photo of complete inkle bands, made with 3/2 cotton. One is in gold, green and white, and the other is in white, turquoise and copper.
Today I took an inkle weaving class! Feels good to expand my weaving knowledge on these little looms.

A towering, muscular warrior known as The Oni. He wears a menacing black and red hannya-style mask with sharp horns and glowing red eyes. His massive physique is covered in organic, obsidian-like armor with deep red patterns. He holds a large katana with a glowing red blade inscribed with ancient-style characters, wearing a dark, open robe over his powerful frame.
A waist-up shot of the supervillain 'The Oni.' He is a massive, muscular figure with dark grey skin textured like braided muscle fibers. Glowing red vein-like patterns wrap across his chest and shoulders. He wears a fierce red and black hannya mask with long silver horns and sharp fangs. A tattered dark cloak rests on his shoulders, and a thick, brown rope belt is tied at his waist against a solid black background.
A waist-up illustration of the supervillain 'The Oni' in a martial arts-inspired look. He has a muscular, athletic build and wears a black sleeveless top, a wide red sash around his waist, and red-patterned gauntlets. His face is covered by a black mask with a red hannya-style design around his eyes and two long, curved black horns with red tips. His long black hair blows wildly to the side against a grimy, sepia-toned background with red splatters.
A close-up, dramatic portrait of the supervillain 'The Oni.' He wears a dark, red-lined hood that shadows his face, revealing an upgraded black and red hannya style mask with glowing crimson eyes. His chest is composed of thick, dark grey muscle fibers resembling organic armor, marked with jagged red "cracked" patterns. Heavy, weathered ropes rest on his shoulders over a tattered dark cloak, set against a dark background with a single, out-of-focus golden light.
[Character Spotlight: The Oni 👹]
One of my favorites. The mystery, the elegance, the surgical precision...The Oni has everything needed to be a top tier supervillain.

I was gifted a truly absurd amount of mostly worsted weight yarn, and I am so excited for all the weaving experimentation I'll be able to do now that I'm not so limited on my supply. :D Just don't ask me where I'm storing everything that's still in progress rofl. #yarn #weaving #weaver
Spiders in the Colima culture of ancient West Mexico (ca. 300 BC – 600 AD) were significant symbolic figures often depicted in terracotta zoomorphic vessels. These ceramic pieces, commonly found in shaft tombs, suggest that spiders held a complex, likely supernatural, role in their cosmology, connecting the earthly realm with the underworld. Spiders are frequently represented in burial contexts, suggesting they functioned as protective entities or spiritual guardians for the deceased in the shaft tombs. Similar to other Mesoamerican traditions, the spider was seen as a "weaver" of reality, representing the creative force and the ability to rebuild or transform, often linked to the cycles of life and death. n broader pre-Hispanic contexts, including the nearby, roughly contemporary cultures in Peru (Cupisnique), spider imagery is closely associated with water, rain, and fertility, acting as a deity that brings necessary life forces. I must say that the BlueSky #Community has done so much to dispel my #arachnophobia with affectionate displays of their #Spider companions that seeing this #Weaver photo made me smile in appreciation rather than shudder with fear as I once would have. Thank you! 💝
