In 2019, the 🇪🇺 water legislation, including the #WaterFrameworkDirective, was assessed by @ec.europa.eu as still appropriate as part of the fitness check.

Although they sell it as simplification to foster their industrial (non-)strategy, we know how this is going.

NMWE recognises the aim of simplifying EU legislation, but we are concerned about calls to weaken the #WFD in the Environmental Omnibus Proposal.
Water is a strategic resource, protecting it is non-negotiable.
The priority should be to fully and effectively implement the WFD, not reopen it 👇
