It was officially opened on June 25, 1877. Designed by Thomas Prosser and William Peachey, it was built by the North Eastern Railway.
86259 ‘Peter Pan/Les Ross’ stabled in platform 7 at York comes face to face with an LNER Azuma. The veteran 86 had worked in from Kings Cross with a rail tour heading for Whitby.

The class 303 introduced in 1960 following the electrification of the North Clyde coast and Cathcart circle in Strathclyde. Affectionately known as the ‘Blue Trains’ they served the Glasgow suburbs for many years.
