Today's #musicforthe2ndcrisis is a throwback from the last time the US had a senile old man in power, only there were better controls on him back then. Speak up. Nothing about this is okay.

Now is a *great* time in the US to reach out to your senators and representatives if you have them. Make a ruckus to your state/territory reps, too. Make some noise at the orchardist and farmer meetings. #bees #pollinators #science
In case you missed it, one of the many scientific programs the Orange Menace is trying to once again completely defund is the USGS Bee Lab. Y'know, the folks trying to make sure that we have bees for our crops.

Busy day ahead and I need some extra gas in the tank. Today's #musicforthe2ndcrisis will hopefully provide that. If you're in the US, consider pinging your elected reps to speak out against the senile, vulgar, war-crime-promising tweet from the madman in the WH.

Today's #musicforthe2ndcrisis serves as a possibly much-needed reminder that we all can be the heroes that we've been looking/waiting for. Individually and collectively, we are so much better and more powerful than we're led to believe.

I was lucky enough to see some of these works in person. If you get a chance, don't miss it. I believe the traveling exhibit is currently in New Mexico, USA, but there are installations in many places. Check out her website for more details: sayakaganz.com
Late in the day on a busy day with an unusual entry. Today's #musicforthe2ndcrisis has music in it, but is an expression of art, of taking what's discarded, honoring it, and turning it into beauty. I hope this inspires you as it did me.

Yay for pollinator habitat! And if you and Krissy decide that you want to keep honeybees, fabulous! If, however, you're also interested in helping native pollinators, you might want to consult with the Ohio Bee Atlas people about surveying what you already have, bee-wise.

Two library books being checked out. A dark grey book with a man and a woman on the cover is Silver and Blood by Jessie Mihalik. A green and gold book with two masonry towers is One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig.
Ooo! Some of my holds came in at the library! I've been waiting for Silver and Blood by @jessiemihalik.com since the library made it available for pre-order. The Rachel Gillig is a friend recommendation. I guess that's my weekend sorted! #booksky #libraries #reading
Lots of things going on this Friday, many of them not good. Today's #musicforthe2ndcrisis reminds us that idiots playing games hurt everyone. Contact your political reps. Speak out against the madness.

Good riddance, hey hey, goodbye, we didn't love you we despised you, may there be MANY more causes for me to find and post versions of this song soon.
Well, Bondi is out. A disgrace to the position and to the rule of law, we must celebrate - and work to get rid of the acting, who is as bad if not potentially worse. Nonetheless, today's #musicforthe2ndcrisis is a celebration.

thebookseller ig account saying NEWS: some editors uploading confidential manuscripts to ChatGPT to read quickly, agent claims
the guardian: I wrote a novel using AI. Writers must accept artificial intelligence – but we are as valuable as ever | Stephen Marche
the walrus bsky account: Authors are using AI. Publishers know it. And now, says publishing consultant Thad McIlroy, authors are being forced to lie about it. One cancelled horror novel didn’t just end a career—it exposed an industry-wide reckoning.
idk guys when i see a lot of similar headlines insisting that editors & authors are all already embracing AI, i don't assume these things are true. i assume there are a lot of very rich people with an unpopular product pushing a particular narrative in my industry!
Today's #musicforthe2ndcrisis cheers on the brave folks traveling by rocket today, and also reminds us that we need to take care of the place we live - our world, our government, our communities, families, and friends. Yay science, yay moon, yay taking action for our home.

This is so very not good I am having trouble finding words. Thanks to @carlbergstrom.com for the gift link.
Finally home and completely brain fried, so today's #musicforthe2ndcrisis isn't related to anything but the joy of singing and the sentiment that we've come too far to give up who we are. We know who we are and what we can be. Find ways to make that reality happen.

I've been very fortunate in having trans people as part of my life for many, many, many years. On this day of trans visibility, I celebrate them and urge everyone to celebrate them too.
I see you, and I'm happy you're here.
Reposting for any of my author friends who might have been screwed over by their US publishers not registering their US copyright, but might also hold Canadian citizenship. #writing
Merry Monday! This is also a travel day for me, so today's #musicforthe2ndcrisis is both an energy boost and a fingers crossed that the airport security lines will be okay. Good luck to all those who have to travel today!

Incredibly tired after a long day yesterday. Some of you may be in the same boat. So today's #musicforthe2ndcrisis is a reviving treat. Rest. Recharge. Have a smoothie.

Today's #musicforthe2ndcrisis is in memory of our dear friend and proud Frenchman, whom we celebrate today. Remember that carrying protest signs, protecting others, refusing to submit are all "taking up arms". Learn from history and act accordingly.

You should read this.
Ancient enmity doesn't have to last forever. Communities can come together. Love and connection are stronger than hate.
It really is!
I have made this recipe with canned salmon and smoked paprika instead of the hot smoked salmon, and it came out great. I have used oil instead of butter, but I do use the milk. If I were looking to swap out for a non-dairy milk, I'd probably go oat.

Still on the road, very fried, and working with only half a brain at best. So today's #musicforthe2ndcrisis is a fun cover of a hopeful protest song from back in the day. Work for peace and sanity. Hang in there. If you can get out and protest tomorrow, please do!

Interesting observation from Josh, who founded and runs Talking Points Memo, a great site to subscribe to for independent journalism about American politics and public policy. www.talkingpointsmemo.com if you want to check it out.
On the road again today, so today's #musicforthe2ndcrisis is a reminder that we can all exercise courage. Be smart, be aware, and be brave.

So get out there and share your knowledge. Learn from others. Push back against ignorance, starting with your own (we all have things we're ignorant of that we need to know). Learn. Listen. Speak up. Act.
3/ The loss of respect for expertise, the willingness to listen to and learn from others, is a huge, huge problem. One of its obvious outgrowths is the rise of the obsequious plagiarism lying machines and the people who are pushing the narrative that "easy" and quick > accurate, good, & truthful.
