Boards of Canada are back! I've been following BoC reddit, Keyosc and Twoism since yesterday and it's amazing how the community has sprung into action to decode all the details on the new VHS.

Listened to MHTRTC yesterday, so today's listening is... Geogaddi!

More Jeff Mills with Waveform Transmission Vol 3. Hardcore techno... Heavy stuff. "Wrath of the Punisher", indeed! And Condor to Mallorca is always a favourite.

Happy #CDFriday !

New arrival in the mail this week: Tangerine Dream's 50 Years of Phaedra at the Barbican. Fantastic stuff, and continues the sterling quality of the Quantum Years.

Perhaps this makes up for forgetting to write my weekly #TangerineDreamTuesday post...!

Listening to more early Boards of Canada today with... Twoism! Their debut release from 1995, only made widely available in 2002 after being acquired by Warp.

Listening to Substrata by Biosphere today! A bona fide ambient classic that chills to the bone...

Was finishing reading Haruki Murakami's Hard Boiled Wonderland and The End of the World while listening, and the funereal atmosphere was immensely fitting.

Never had this on CD but I did download it a few years back. Lots of classic remixes on there! Trans Asian Express was my favourite.

Happy #CDFriday !

It's raining away this afternoon. No better time to listen to the longest single to ever grace the UK charts... at 39 minutes and 58 seconds, it's the full length Blue Room by The Orb!

Bit of Jeff Mills this morning with Waveform Transmission Vol. 1. Wish I had this on CD! That one-two punch of Changes of Life and Berlin is outstanding. To quote the Wizard himself, this is techno...

Once again, the final recording on a Bootleg Box is also its shortest, with a 1983 Frankfurt set representing one of the final concerts of the Virgin Years. Two excerpts from Poland feature alongside previously released Logos (13/15)

For a tour ostensibly promoting Exit (released a month earlier) we see the band jumping not one but two albums ahead by starting with an excerpt of an early Logos, while an extended version of the already colossal Mojave Plan opens the second disc. The fourth set on this disc sees us firmly in the Schmoelling era with a performance at Newcastle City Hall in October 1981, and although TD had by this point eschewed improvising for playing from DATs it did give them the space to test and tweak new (9/15)

Our third set from Hamburg in 1978 sees a new lineup comprised of Froese, Franke, Jolliffe and Krüger, with a corresponding change in atmosphere - delving further into the acoustic side of Krautrock than the band have for many years (or indeed, ever). The prevalence of flute and shuffling (7/15)

Nottingham's 1976 concert continues the excellent standard of previous Froese/Franke/Baumann concerts with a journey into the abyss. Part 1 starts off slow-moving and psychedelic, featuring buoyant and bubbling synths, with some hints of Baumann's Bicentennial Presentation from his solo album (2/15)
