Sunrise from the South Rim of Big Bend National Park. Absolutely stunning view and worth hiking up in the dark for 6 miles to see the early sunlight dance across this landscape.

Iguazu Falls in Argentina, one of the seven natural wonders of the world, offers an immersive and intense experience, with 80% of its 275 waterfalls located within Iguazu National Park. The Argentinian side allows visitors to hike through the Misiones rainforest, get up close to the imposing Devil's Throat, and experience the raw power of the water from upper and lower walkways. Vertical landscape photograph capturing three distinct, powerful water chutes at Iguazú Falls, Misiones, Argentina. The cascading water exhibits a prominent earthy brown or coffee-like hue due to sediment and organic matter from upriver swamplands. Intense green subtropical foliage surrounds the flow, while a persistent mist and spray fill the atmosphere. Focus on the geological power and the chromatic contrast between the silty water and the vegetation. Optimized for geological, hydrological, and South American ecotourism indexing

A vast, tropical inland sea bottom (Solarian Sea) covering most of North America formed from sediments, shells and coral skeletons over millions of years as the sea retreated, exposed by the tectonic uplift and formation of the Michigan Basin creating the Niagara Escarpment approx 450 million years ago.
The gorge was carved from the escarpment about a million years ago from glacial meltwater and fine tuned with the last ice sheet retreating only 12,000 years ago.
The Queenston Formation of soft, red shale at the bottom is the oldest at 450 milllion years and the top is harder dolostone and limestone called the Lockport Formation and is about 430 million years.
Other layers are the Cabot Head Formation made up from layers of grey shale and the distinct, hard grey-green layer called the Thorold Formation.
Thanks for coming to my talk on layers. U

They do look like little goblins, but I am a little perplexed by the eerie pink light coming from the mysterious other side of the lake. Anyway….more snow here today.

A very special day. Thank you.
It’s a very beautiful spot that can’t be captured completely unless you’re there. Takes your breath away.

The Cliffs of Moher on a stormy day in September.
Made it to the famous Cliffs of Moher just as the rain passed by, setting the North Atlantic winds to dry us out

September rains soak a stone road lined with old stone walls leading to a barn. The horses are out and on the right getting soaked, like me.
