At the Paradise River. I'd gone down here to hike one morning, & the bird's bobbing caught my attention. A Ranger identified it for me. Only time I've seen one.
a common myna bird walking on a lawn of green grass. the bird is medium-sized, characterized by its dark brown plumage, a black head and neck, a bright yellow bill, and a patch of bare yellow skin around the eye. white patches on its wings are visible as it moves across the grass. the background is softly blurred, showing dark rocks and earth. the IUCN declared the common myna as one of only three birds among the world's 100 worst invasive species. in Hawaii, it is out-competing many native birds for food and nesting areas.
