🧵This is a striking moment from 2008. An underfunded & then outsider movement was about to take the GOP from its past self to Trump’s beast. 2 yrs later (Black president? GFC?) the outsiders began taking over the Republican congressional posse via the Tea Party

Spoiler: Gas is up 19% in a month after the Iran conflict. Ground beef is up 11.6%. Coffee is up 19%. Tariffs are projected to shift 80% of their costs directly to consumers in 2026. Republican silence isn’t a mystery — it’s a confession.
Me , in Santa Fe Plaza holding a sign: TRUMP OUT! NO GENOCIDE.
This is where I write from my heart and mind. Today wa a long challenging day. Began with a genocidal threat from a Republican Fascist president . Punctuated by his fascist threat to hold off from genocide for 2 weeks. In the meantime, organized local protest […]

So basically Trump gives Iran control of the straight, Iran’s regime stays the same, America takes a fat L and will be spending more money going forward. And tomorrow we will hear from every Republican—and a not insignificant amount of our political press—how Trump is a strategic genius who wins.
BREAKING: Democrat Alicia Halvensleben has defeated Republican Scott Allen in the Waukesha, Wisconsin mayoral race, flipping the seat.
This marks a major political shift in one of the most historically conservative suburbs in the Milwaukee area and follows a night of major shifts away from the GOP.
BREAKING: Democrat Alison Page has defeated longtime Republican incumbent Dan Toland in the River Falls, Wisconsin mayoral race, flipping the seat from red to blue.
Toland had held the office since 2012.
Another Dem win in Wisconsin:
In traditionally red WOOD COUNTY, voters reelected a county judge who was appointed by Democratic Governor Tony Evers.
Emily Nolan-Plutchak, the winner, is a longtime public defender. She defeated a Republican DA.

map of the 2026 Wisconsin Supreme Court election results by county. it’s geographically about half blue, which is pretty overwhelming a lot of that map is sparsely populated. Taylor is winning 60-40 with 95% of the vote in.
incumbent republican nightmare fuel here
Vote every Republican out.
Holy crap. As a liberal who has been to Waukesha, I can tell you it’s so Republican that if you stand in place more than eight minutes you start feeling an uncontrollable urge to take public services away from poor people. This is a staggering statement of how screwed the GOP is. Yay!
Yea, but did he lose it in the eyes of his fervent base? Did it cause a single Republican congress person to disavow him? Did it weaken his hold on the apparatus of government, from DHS to the FBI and the DoJ? No, it did not. So, in the words of the Black Knight, "We'll call it a draw."
Holy crap, the Democrats actually won a WOW County. Ozaukee County has finally voted for them:
2024- R+10
2025- R+4
2026- D+4
Combine that with Waukesha County being a single-digit Republican win, the suburbs were not doing their thing for the Republicans tonight.
If you’re looking for hope for elections to come, Republican stronghold Waukesha just flipped blue. 🌊 🌊 🌊
Congrats to mayor-elect Alicia Halvensleben!
I had really hoped over logic that somehow a Democrat could win the seat left by MTG. But it wasn't to be.
Republican Clay Fuller wins Georgia special election: Live updates share.google/pNRc2JlGCHAB...
A little history... Waukesha had a (Dem aligned - the city council and mayoral races in Wisconsin are nominally nonpartisan) mayor about 20 years ago, Larry Nelson. (I profiled him for Milwaukee Magazine in 2007.) The city has always been much less Republican than the rest of the county.
Coincidentally when Democrats win we’re Napalming Republican precincts
the reason I locked down my post was someone told me that GA-14 had reelected another republican as if that was some terrible loss, when a county that Trump won by 37 fucking points just split 55/44.
I know we don’t live in a timeline where enough people acknowledge reality, but after this shit it should be impossible to get elected as a Republican anywhere in the country.
I’ve been on this bandwagon for a while. The question is why? A reasonable place to start is likely voter models that weight the electorate too Republican. We are in at least a 2018 environment, if not more Democratic
I think I may have just had an epiphany of sorts. All those people portraying Republican politicians as cowards and weaklings rather than remarkably bold and stalwart fascists / gangsters are likely conservative, Republican voters who didn't understand they were voting for fascism / gangsterism.
I'm stealing this point from @madar.bsky.social but the Republican-controlled Congress isn't failing to act, it's acting, affirmatively, to ensure Trump's wishes are carried out. They didn't fail to impeach and remove him today, they *succeeded* in cosigning genocide, which is now a party position.
⚖️ US Marshals raided the home of Jim Courtovich, a Republican lobbyist, following a judgment against him for $4 million. @penguinsix.bsky.social
📌I cannot emphasize enough how badly Chris Taylor is beating her Republican-backed opponent in the Wisconsin Supreme Court race right now.
If this was a fight they would have stopped it yesterday.
She is going to win this crucial race by +15-20% in a 50/50 state.
