20 years ago today, my mom Recieved a liver transplant that ultimately gave my family an extra 2 yeaRs with her I know were at a time of what i'll call
"general medical skepticism" and that includes the tReatment of those who are organ donors in a hospital setting primarily Recieving End of Life care. I cant tell you that kind of thing never happens, but / can say it is staggeringly Rare.
What isnt Rare is the life changing, life-giving act of organ donation. I pray every day for the family of the person whose gift gave me more time with my mom. I hope they know that their family member's choice Kept a family whole for just a little longer.
The US Transplant List curRently has just over 110,000 adults and children waiting For that phone call - the majority are awaiting kidney donations. There will always be a need for donors, especially PoC and those with AB blood.
One person can save 8 people in death There are opportunities to bea ling donoR (like bone marrow)
Please think of my farily and my mom the nextime you have the chance to Register
