I bumped into an old convention acquaintance at the bus stop. The one I’ve felt in the shadow of for years.
“How many games did you run?”
“Fourteen”
“You bastard! Right! I’ll do 14 next year.”
“Don’t…..it hurts.”
I know he’s going to run 14 next year.

All over now. Had my last breakfast. I’m known for gluttony at all you can eat hotel breakfasts - especially if they’re supplied free by UKGE. But it’s surprising how what I’ve eaten has become more specialised over the week.

I avoided the overlong Raffle with too many prizes.
My final game was me running the Discworld starter set.
I tried really hard but the provided scenario is not structured so it’s easy to use. So. Much. Page. Flipping.

I’d found that I was enjoying Refereeing more than playing so I decided to put up sing up sheets at the last minute. As it turned out I was only able to get one ready. Last night I had to sign up to play a game. Luckily I had a great experience.

Final day of #Contingency. Ran Matrons of Mystery, where my hapless players fumbled their way to four bits of evidence by the halfway point, before doing a bit better on their dice rolls in the back half, before finding the solution (convoluted as ever) to the mystery of the Six Sherlocks. Hurrah!

Tonight was, again, a random sign up with a referee and system I didn’t know. It was a bit less wacky than the sign-up sheet had made it sound.
The system is called “Vibes” and will be published as a Zine later in the year and will be worth a look.

#Contingency Friday evening I enjoyed playing Code of Cthulhu by @squadronuk.bsky.social I was a stressed paramedic who did tai chi for relaxation and had frequent precognitive flashes. He was driven to investigate the horrors because he had seen so many he couldn’t save, and perhaps this time…

I arrived Friday lunchtime, and the first game I played was Modiphius Star Trek 1e. I was a Vulcan medical officer, and we had to identify and then solve a problem about being quantum entangled with an unknown alien starship.

My game for this afternoon had zero sign-ups so to save the embarrassment of it being called out to everyone at muster, I’ve pulled the sheet and signed to some kind Saturday morning anime show thingy.
Since I signed up to play a wacky, random, make it up as you go along….

Well we played it last night. (I’m playing in his game this morning. I’ll ditch the dirt larger.)
You probably won’t remember but I said I had difficulty with the pacing of the Call of Cthulhu scenario as written.
