Clear starry skies tonight, but a full schedule and early start in the workday tomorrow. Normally I’d skip late-night stargazing, yet times change, my smart telescope on the rooftop makes the impossible possible, capturing distant #galaxies in Markarian Chain in Virgo.

Fast radio bursts at the dawn of the 2020s Since the discovery of the first fast radio burst (FRB) in 2007, and their confirmation as an abundant extragalactic population in 2013, the study of these sources has expanded at an incredible rate. In our 2019 review on the subject, we presented a growing, but still mysterious,

Peculiar galaxies showcase the beauty of cosmic violence

Most galaxies are spirals, with ellipticals and lenticulars making up the next most common types.

But peculiar galaxies reveal the in-between steps, showing how modern galaxies are made.

Edited photo of the pinwheel galaxy (M101): taken and processed by Bill Graham, 3/28/2026

This image is of the pinwheel galaxy (M101). It is in the constellation Ursa Major, otherwise known as the Big Dipper. I took it last night or should I say early this morning? Yes I took it then. That is way early on 3/28/2026. It is a grand design spiral galaxy.

Edited photo of the Koi Fish galaxy (NGC4559/C36): taken and processed by Bill Graham, 03/27/2026

This deep-space image is of the Koi Fish galaxy (NGC4559/C36). I took it with my SeeStar S50 Telescope, early this morning, 03/27/2026. I only got 36 minutes worth of stacking, which comes to about 216 frames. This galaxy is part of the Coma Berenices constellation.
