Final nail in this #coffin; there are plenty of people in the #US that also have #tics. Yet this is the first time the US ever #heard the #excuse of a tic being the reason why someone would say the n-word.
It’s almost as if the #UK got away with being #counterfactually #ignorant for too long.
I would add that, #logically, if #tics in general are #intrusivethoughts;
& if those are then acted upon eg “I’m holding an egg, I really want to throw the egg, oops where did the egg go?”;
Then a person saying a #racialslur is still a #racist.
I hope that clears it up.

Once when assisting with making brownies, and my motor tics tipped a full tub of cocoa powder all over myself. It was everywhere. The bathroom smelt like hot chocolate for a week!

At the moment the leg tics prevent me from standing, and when I could stand I was all over the place. My leg tics would cause me to fall every few steps straight on my knees. This included falling on dog shit, broken glass, and anything else on pavements.

Motor tics can range from things like blinking and facial movements. To full body tics.
The motor tics are often the more disabling aspect of Tourettes.
For example my motor tics disable me greatly. I am a full time manual wheelchair user because of my leg tics.

However, motor tics are just as much of a part of Tourettes as the vocal ones. In fact for a diagnosis you need at least two motor tics that have been present for at least a year, and only one vocal tic is needed for the same time period.

I have had comments over the years where people have been unaware that Tourettes isn't just vocal tics. I think because the vocal tics are usually the ones mentioned in the media, and for many with Tourettes the vocal tics are often the more noticeable tics.
