Therefore, the dev can't sign the drivers or bootloader for veracrypt. This means effectively, the dev can not publish updates for the windows platform

Apparently #Wireguard is facing a similar issue

Still interested in answers, but the way #Liberaforms guides users in managing the private key is very good. I think a decent password manager will suffice here. I have my keys in a #veracrypt volume.
