Tower of St Matthew-in-the-City lit up for the carol service, lights shining out the stained glass windows. The tower and it's white Ōamaru stone sit bold against the blue night sky.
The St Matthew-in-the-City Christmas tree looking awfully green & bright & festive
The church interior looking from the Alter to the back where the Christmas tree is. The church masonry is white Ōamaru stone, the pews are a rich rimu brown with scarlet red velvet cushions, the rafters and ceiling are dark wood fading into black. The church is empty ahead of the carol service and well illuminated in white lights for now.
The church alter taken from the back of the church. The white Ōamaru stone is counter pointed by the pinky orange led accent lighting that medieval architects would've killed for.
Easily our favourite night of the year for bellringing! Bells, carols, & decorations, what's not to love?! 🔔
We had 12 tonight, including our two visitors from Honolulu. We rang 8 most of the night, but kept it simple (no thanks from the muggyness) 💕
