View from the south of the Grade 1 listed St Mary de Haura, founded circa 1103 with much C12 structure remaining. Of Norman and Transitional style using stone, flint, and cobbles. The Edrom Arch near Duns in the Scottish Borders. The image shows a stone arch above a doorway. There are three layers of intricately carved though rather weathered decorations. Descending out of the frame are pillars either side of the doorway. There is part of a sloping roof visible at the top of the frame. The arch is in sunlight.

This image shows the interior of St Michael & All Angels Church in Barton-le-Street. The church was completely rebuilt in the Norman style in 1871, designed by Perkin and Son. It features a remarkable collection of Norman sculptures, including chancel arch capitals and a frieze high on the chancel wall. The colorful organ case, seen on the right, was designed by the Yorkshire architect Temple Moore. A notable feature is the medieval pillar piscina located to the right of the altar.
