Found this little sap suckin spittle bug (Complex Clastoptera lineatocollis) on my white sage this morning. Supposedly they won’t do too much damage but at this early stage i try to prevent anything that might stunt growth as the get established #cnps #spittlebug

A photo of a mottled orange/brown spittlebug from above. The spittlebug's head is bluntly round and is mottled orange, brown, and white. The eyes are a pale gray mottled with black spots and blend in with the head. The thorax has more white and brown mottling and blends into the wings which have more orange. The body and wings sweep backwards to a point giving the insect an elongated tear-drop shape.
