Crikey. I haven’t had a new mattress since we got a new bed for our tiny Hobbit hole in 2010. It’s one of them fancy no-springs, firm memory foam things. Seems perfectly fine still. Not that I sleep much but that’s age-related.🙄

Wonderful capture Alan and I’d say that this bird is anything but common. I wish I’d seen one.
Reed bunting perched sideways on a slender reed stem, its small body fluffed against the light. The bird shows a dark head with a pale collar and warm brown streaking across its back, with a soft buff belly. Its fine beak points slightly upward as it looks off to the left. The background is a smooth blur of golden reeds and cool blue tones, suggesting wetland habitat in gentle sunlight.
For Rob’s main theme #BlackHeads ,ps remember them as a teenager. 😁 I’m going with a Common Reed Bunting. #birds #BirdOfTheDay #photography #ECK

Thank you Jason. Every day there is movement in the garden right now. Spring is certainly springing.
Fantastic. I definitely need to get over there soon. My Azalea isn’t nearly ready yet.
Azaleas flowering very early and a glimpse of the lake.
The bottom of the azalea steps which will soon be a sea of colour. It was probably a rabbit …. It was Easter Monday.🐇
More azaleas flowering early.
The other photo I missed getting at Winkworth was walking down the azalea steps a hare crossed my path. Well I thought it was a hare but when I checked AI it said hares don’t live in that environment. What do AI know!?🤷♀️

I did, thank you Jason. Going to be hotter today, so I am seeking shade.
Will do. It’s getting quite old now. I have repotted it a couple of times but I think it may be getting near the end of its lifetime now. I might look back and find some historic shots. Fingers crossed it does its act again this year but I’m always on tenterhooks.
Gonna need a bigger harbour.

I've been reading a new book about trees. 'The Arboretum' is a look at why they are so important and how they fit into our social history. Reviewed here: bit.ly/4s10hCN

Beautiful Alan but what are those cloudy things in the sky? Another clear blue sky dawns down here in the south. You could almost imagine you are on the Med.😁☀️🕶️
A macro image of a deep red Japanese Maple/Acer Palmatum “Atropurpureum” leaf against a green blurred out background. The outer leaf is coated in a fuzzy white almost fur like protective lining while the inside seems vulnerably delicate and squashed together like tiny babies in a plant womb. Camera: iPhone 15 Pro.
The promise. A macro image of an Acer Palmatum “Atropurpureum” leaf about to be released, tempted out by a sudden mini heatwave in my part of England.

An English Bluebell
An English Bluebell
English Bluebell stems grow straight up until the weight of the flowers create the droop towards the tip
Here are two showing how the flowers individually separate from each other as the stem extends
The number of flowers increase with maturity as the root system expands
Ooh, clever. Have a spiffing day Soph and don’t forget the sun cream.

Good morning Sabine. Such a lovely image and beautifully captured. I was awake at 5am but that was 6am European time and the birds were already singing and the sky was light. No photographs after a restless night. I am having a lie in. Have a great day.
In a sane world none of this would happen but then we don’t live in that world.
The reputation of a whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don't want that to happen, but it probably will. What is needed is Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful…

No need to apologise Diane. I can look at those views until the sea cows come home. I miss living by the sea so much. I visited one of our sons at the weekend at his seaside home and the air itself was a tonic. Sorry it’s cold. We are getting some early heat and today is set fair again.

The sane part of the world is certainly breathing a little easier this morning Linda and the natural world is out there oblivious to the ludicrous machinations of men. Soon the roses will bloom, as you say. Yours is a beauty and there is so much to look forward to.
NOW: B52 bombers are literally in the air on their way to Iran and hundreds of thousands of Iranians are in the streets waving flags and surrounding bridges & power plants.
Difficult to imagine this has any precedent in modern warfare.

Thank you FOC. It is already receding and I’m going to bed now to see it off.

The sun sets behind a Maple tree Acer Griseum that is just beginning to get its new leaves next to the small propeller-like seed heads. The sun causes the leaves to glow a rusty orange colour. Camera: iPhone 15 Pro.
Goodnight Bluesky. That was another perfect imperfect day for me. Brilliant sunshine. Serial killer headache. Let’s hope for a perfectly perfect sunrise tomorrow after this beautiful #Sunset behind the Maple tree in my little garden.
