You know, for as good as it is that queer stories of today are far from only covering coming out narratives, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything, let alone stuff made for kids, tackle the PROCESS of coming out in this way and it’s really nice to see.

Other than being cancelled on a cliffhanger, the biggest tragedy of #DeadEndParanormalPark is Norma x Badyah just not working out.
But while on first viewing, it was easy to just think “NO! THE SHIP!” it was a lot easier to grasp how meaningful and nuanced their arc is here…..

This second half arc is a lot juicier: Learning to cope when the people behind your special interest turn out to be bad people.
This is a very real, very difficult-to-deal-with phenomenon and the show handles it beautifully.

I love how #DeadEndParanormalPark manages to do such subversive takes on otherwise familiar tropes while still embodying what works best about them in their classic molds.
Case in point, the “bottle episode” actually does have multiple environments due to the moving line & Barney’s dreamscape….

Her hyperfixation on Phoenix Parks, her social anxiety manifesting as a fear world, it’s relatable as hell and I love it.

So I left the deeper analysis of its brilliant trans rep to those that were out.
