A three-panel cartoon. Panel one shows a woman standing in a modern living room while two movers carry a large flat-screen television out the front door behind her. She says, “Honestly, I should have done this years ago.” Panel two is a close-up of the woman’s face as she says, “Now our family can finally focus on what really matters to us.” Panel three shows an open living space with a kitchen, dining area, and seating area. The woman sits on a sofa using a laptop. A man sits in an armchair using a tablet. Three children are nearby, each looking at a phone. One child sits on the floor, one sits on a sofa, and one stands. No one is looking at each other.
It’s a Wednesday and this year I’m going to use them as a midweek break from politics to show more culturally focused cartoons.
Today, a small change can feel like a big deal. If only family habits weren’t so hard to break.
