Parmi les équipements à inclure figure le système de contre-mesures infrarouge directionnel d’Elbit, qui protège contre les attaques par missiles guidés. Les travaux « amélioreront l’environnement du cockpit, permettront de voler dans des conditions difficiles et soutiendront l’identification des zones d’atterrissage et des obstacles sûrs », indique l’équipementier. Le directeur général d’Elbit, Bezhalel Machlis, note que l’installation « fournira une enveloppe technologique avancée optimale pour l’exécution de la mission et pour assurer la sécurité des pilotes ». « Une fois l’assemblage terminé, les hélicoptères devraient être transférés vers une ligne d’installation et de production dédiée, établie pour adapter les hélicoptères de configuration américaine aux systèmes israéliens adaptés aux exigences opérationnelles définies par l’armée de l’air israélienne », a déclaré Elbit. « Les hélicoptères sont actuellement en cours d’assemblage dans l’usine de production principale (Sikorsky) à (Stratford) Connecticut », note Elbit. Le nouveau type est propulsé par trois moteurs GE Aviation T408. Israël a également récemment avancé sur un projet d’acquisition de 30 nouveaux Boeing **AH-64E Apache** hélicoptères d’attaque, dans le cadre d’un effort de modernisation de la flotte.
