The Jordan 191, an iconic #F1 car from 1991.
It still ran a H-pattern gear lever, here's my no4 from the original production run.
Its tiny and light, barely fits in your hand, at just 180mm long and 80g.
For lightness the head is hollow and capped off.

Teams are using an exhaust trick to increase energy recovery. Its the opposite effect to Ferrari's exhaust blown flap. Instead the engines exhaust stops blowing momentarily when the driver lifts off (LO) either for Lift/Coast or braking.

Haas #F1 wheelgun, as with all teams based on the Paoli Hurricane. But tuned and enhanced with a carbon cover, grip tape, moulding putty, status lights and a data connection to the pit gantry system.

A feature on the AMR26 borrowed from RBR, is the front suspension structure.
Both forward legs of the suspension are continuous, with a beam joining them left and right.
This could either make the assembly stiffer or create a pseudo anti roll effect 🤔

Ferrari's Speed Over Ground (SOG) sensor has shifted forwards. This might be for more sensor accuracy or aero.
Also known as a slip sensor, it measures the cars direction, along with steering angle, this tells the team the slip angle, if there's under/over steer

Reventec Powers Formula 1’s 2026 Active Aerodynamics Era Reventec is supporting Formula 1 teams by supplying newly developed sensors to measure active aerodynamics critical component movements.

Reventec have developed a sensor to measure #F1 wing position
They're a non-contact device developed to deliver reliable rear wing actuation data.
The sensor is semi‑remote allowing the electronics module to be mounted away from the actuator. #F1tech

A look at @xavigazquez 📸 of the #F1 Audi nose structure
The sides are thick & form a large part of the impact structure, the lower edge then trimmed to allow for the sculpted lower surface, hence the chassis mounts are above this line.
All this is one piece, not sections

Haas, as expected have fitted an exhaust blown flap.
This creates upwash. which drives more downforce from the diffuser & top rear wing.
The diffuser extensions were fitted for R01, but the exhaust flap & winglets are new for R02. The wing brace is also reshaped to match the extensions.

Many people are surprised to see a compressed gas bottle on an #F1 car. In fact they gave run these since the 80s!
The engines do not run coil valve springs, but a pneumatic valve return system PVRS. This bottle is for nitrogen to keep the system pressurised.

As the season starts for FIA F1-Academy. Here's a look at the neat spec car that they run. It's an F4 specification Tatuus with F1 look-alike, bodywork.
The driver gets a carbon paddle shift, steering wheel, stacks of safety features.

Here's a rare look at a #F1 brake by wire (BBW) unit from @BremboBrakes. Rear braking is a mix disc brake & MGUK.
What pressure the driver puts into the pedal is measured by the ECU, which then balances the MGUK Regen and via the BBW disc any disc braking that's required

Something new (old) from @ScarbsTech workbench.
Younger followers may not have seen this before. In the 70/80s when fires & being trapped in the car were more common, rules demanded that drivers had an air supply into their helmet to allow them to breathe.

Race performance is looking more complex this year:
-Race start/Lap1
-Energy management
-Tyre management
-Reliability
We will be lucky to see ten cars finishing. There's points on offer for the midfield today.

RBR's SLM set up
Thx to XPB
Inside the nose is a unit that both hydraulically pushes down the flaps & finely adjusts the flap angle, with a splined tool through the hole.
NB the rocker set-up is guesswork, there must a return spring too in case of hyd failure.

Small details on the Red Bull first seen in testing.
Some strakes added to the wakeboards, also notice the twist in the support beam.
On the diffuser wall a vertical vane, in a similar manner to Mercedes.

Aston Martin have had huge problems, but the aero programme marches on relentlessly. With an all new front wing, with a creased mid down and a narrow section opening with Straight Line Mode. Also, sone clever work to integrate small turning vanes into the front of the floor.

Here's the 2026 #F1 clutch and damper from ZF Racing
An F1 clutch is typically 98mm diameter and weighs under 1kg.
Red Bull/VCarb have long been the key customers for their clutches. Altho I don't yet know about which teams are supplied in 2026

With F-Ducts & active aero currently a topic.
Let's look at the original F-Duct. Introduced by McLaren in 2010, this is a RBR duct from my collection.
Its used a fluid switch tripped by the driver covering the control duct in the cockpit, to stall the rear wing for more top speed.
