The Hill's Trust was established in 1757 with an endowment from Abraham Hill, a Govan-born merchant from Wolverhampton, to provide free education to ten boys and ten girls from the poorest familes of Meikle Govan, preferably with the surname Hill.

The former Hill's Trust School on Golspie Street in the Govan area of Glasgow. This building was constructed in 1874 from a design by James Thomson. It's in an Italianate style which was not unusual for schools at this time.

This one was made by A. and W. Smith, which was founded in Paisley on 1836, and later operated out of the Eglinton Engine Works in Tradeston, meaning it may well have been made relatively locally.

Installed in 1889, it was originally at the entrance to the Harbour Workshop. It even still has the stone tramways on either side of it to make it easier for horse-drawn vehicles to travel over the surrounding setts.
